Press Release: As Anambra Decides — Transform Nigeria Citizen Initiative

Anambra-governorship-election

As the residents of Anambra state go to the poll tomorrow, the eyes in the world will be glued to the state for very obvious reasons. This is a state that gave the world her foremost literary giant, Chinua Achebe, the legendary Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu and the Pan Africanist, Nnamdi Azikiwe.
Without mincing word, Anambra State election will be the parameter with which to gauge the conduct of 2015 election and just one body will decide how the pendulums of the election will swing– the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The candidates of this election are all heavyweights in their individual capacity. They all have what it takes to win the election, but one winner must emerge; and this is where INEC will decide if the true winner duly elected by the people will emerge.
There have been accusations and counter-accusations of INEC playing a ready script to favour a particular candidate. The electoral body must prove that it is not a pen in the hands of any writer to script the results.
This is a clash of titans and all the candidates transverses the length and breadth of the state, seeking for votes.
Transform Nigeria Citizens Initiative congratulate all the candidates for the way and manner they comported themselves throughout the campaign. The peaceful nature of Anambrarians was again brought to the fore yesterday as the famous commercial city of Nnewi became the busiest place in the world. All the leading contestants in Saturday’s guber elections descended on the town and campaigned within touching distances of each other- PDP at St Andrews, APGA at Nkwo Triangle and Labour at Anaedo Hall. No rancour or violence, just do your thing and let me do mine as Nnewi town was brought to a standstill.  Politicians from other geopolitical regions need to learn from the maturity of Anambra guber candidates.
This is an election of the people, not for INEC or the military. The security agencies should be professional and neutral and no one should rig the election under any guise of Federal might or power of incumbency.
Since the return of Democracy, this will be the first election that will be conducted in the absence the leader of the state and Ndigbo in general, Chief Odimegwu Ojukwu, Ikemba Nnewi; the politicians should therefore not stain his memory with any act capable of tarnishing the image of the state. We call on the people of the state to exercise their franchise and choose whom they want to lead them in the next four years. The days of sitting in beer parlours gnashing their teeth at the failure of government can only be put to an end by their active participation in the election process.
While the electorates exercise their civic responsibility, the military must not be used to intimidate them under the guise of keeping the environment secured; neither should the candidates move about with their reckless convoy in ways that threaten the peaceful conduct of the election. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members should not be dragged into the politics of rigging, just as INEC must not delay the payment of the ad-hoc staff in ways that will make them threaten to boycott the conduct of the election.
To reiterate: this election will be determined by the umpire, INEC, and they cannot afford to fail Nigerians at this crucial moment. We have positioned our observers and journalists in all communities to bring first-hand information to us and we will not hesitate to tender such in court if the election is marred by fraud and irregularities. The days of bringing ballot boxes and papers to polling booth should not be experienced in this election, as the electoral body had all the time in the world to prepare for this election.
Anambra State that prides herself as the light of the nation must show to the nation the way to go by coming out en masse to vote for the candidate of their choice. Any act to sabotage this election through any means will not augur well for the image of the presidency and it is on this note that we call on the President, who is the father of all the candidates to allow INEC do their job freely, without interference in the spirit of statesmanship.
With the full knowledge that two people cannot govern a state, we urge all aspirants to refrain from making any inflammatory statement is capable of overheating the polity during and after the election period. They should adopt the spirit of sportsmanship and congratulate the true winner, when the election is deemed free and fair. The Journalists who will be covering the elections should also refrain from publishing results when INEC has not announced so; as well as online media owners who may be tempted to report results from polling units, as given to them by their reporters monitoring the election.
As Anambra goes to poll, let all hands be on deck to ensure that the vote counted belong to one man; one woman.
One man, one vote that is our plea…

No Poor Man Must Get Close To me + I Have Missed Nothing About Timaya- Empress Njamah

Hahaha it's so funny how Empress Njamah answered some questions in this new interview with Showbizplus, but then, it's her interview. So enjoy the ones that concerns us here lol;

So you are saying you can settle for any man whether rich or poor
I’m not going to tell you what I want. But you get into an expensive shop to pick up something, because you can afford it, you see something you can afford then you buy it but if you cannot afford it, take a walk.  The goods are for someone that can afford it, that’s the best I can tell you. I will not settle for less my sister and that’s the truth. People come and tell you all sort of lies and want to praise themselves and say “I can marry a poor man” the poor man nor know wetin him see, abeg! I dey tell una say I am a real person, we all have been through tough times, we all have paid our dues one way or the other. So no poor man must get close to me. Those who know the worth, pay the dues.
What do you miss most about Timaya?
That’s a no-go question to answer. I don’t know why you want to take back the hands of the clock to five years ago.  Do you still remember things that happened five years ago? Well, let me ask my brother (John Njamah) to help me with the answers because I actually don’t know what to say.

But if you insist, Empress has missed nothing, absolutely nothing about Timaya.

The robber, who gave his name as Romeo

A man believed to be in his late thirties was lynched at Ashaiman New Town yesterday after he attempted to rob an MTN sales point at gunpoint. He was in the company of two others during the robbery operation but he was not lucky, as he was grabbed by an angry mob and subsequently beaten and set on fire.

The robber, who gave his name as Romeo, claimed to be a resident of Kasoa Barrier in the Central Region. A Nigerian gang member who resides at Ashaiman Tulaku barrier, according to the deceased, gave information about the sales point.
ON FIRE! The suspected robber, Romeo
A security man, sales personnel and a customer were held hostage by the robbers at the sales point, which had recently experienced two separate robberies, with the robbers taking away thousands of Ghana Cedis.
The robbers demanded money and other valuables, while one waited in a blue-black Toyota Corolla saloon car in front of the sales point, after they had entered the place at about 8:30am under the pretext of transacting business.
Linda Asamoah, a sales attendant, was in the inner chamber of the sales point which had been divided into two with glass. This prevented the robbers from entering where the money was being kept.
Linda made a quick phone call to a friend nearby who promptly raised the alarm which attracted the crowd.
The driver of the get-away car, sensing danger, drove off, leaving his colleagues in the office block, upon hearing the alarm. However, one of the robbers managed to jump on top of the bonnet of the vehicle and fled with the driver.
While escaping, the driver fired shots, with a bullet hitting a glass door of another shop, Maranatha Photo and Barbering Salon, near the scene.
Luck however eluded Romeo, who was not able to catch up quickly with the vehicle, as he was pursued by the mob after he took to his heels from the sales point until he was apprehended.
Petrol Blaze
He was subjected to severe beatings with clubs, metals, golf bats and cement blocks among other implements before finally being set ablaze and left to burn in the middle of the street. Romeo, however, managed to roll over his body until the fire went out while bleeding profusely, mostly from his head.
The incident attracted hundreds of persons who thronged the scene to either unleash their anger on the suspect or catch a glimpse of the deceased after he was killed.
Linda Asamoah, the sales girl, narrated to DAILY GUIDE: “I was at the office when one robber came that he wanted to receive mobile money transfer and I told him the network was down so he should go and return later.”
According to her, another armed robber came to join his colleague, pulled out a pistol and quickly demanded money and other items.
On his part, Romeo jumped over the counter after they had locked themselves in one of the glass apartments.
She further narrated: “It was when he was trying to open the glass door to where we kept the money that I called a friend who shouted ‘thief, thief’ before the area boys came around.”
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Tetteh Yarkah confirmed the incident to us, and added that the police arrived to find the lifeless body of the suspected robber in a pool of blood.
According to him, the corpse had been conveyed to the Police Hospital morgue in Accra for possible identification, further investigations and autopsy.
He noted that upon preliminary investigations, the police retrieved a pistol and live ammunition in a bag which was abandoned on the street by the deceased while he was running away from the fuming mob.
Ashaiman Newtown and its environs are under frequent siege by armed robbers, putting the area youth under constant alert.

Nigerian Designer 'Attacks' Genevieve, Omotola and Rukky Sanda

Nigerian Designer, Emmy Collins who is known for being so outspoken is at it again, this time he blasted Nollywood actresses, Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Rukky Sanda.
Here's what he wrote yesterday about Rukky Sanda, Omotola and Genevieve Nnaji.
My dear late mum had always feared that my big mouth would put me in trouble. There must be something in my DNA that doesn’t allow me to ignore toxic issues regardless of how much I try.
So, if you are wondering why I couldn`t be just as “SELFISH” as most of the bloggers
and blog only about topics that will generate goodwill towards me from the readers, well, quit wondering as the answer is simply because I just can`t help myself, lolll.
I have read about people basically insinuating that I am daft because I don’t use my blogging medium to make money. Well in Igbo we have a saying that goes “agbacha oso aguo mile”(time shall tell).
Now let’s delve straight into the images and other stuff that transpired.
Rukky Sanda and bréasts
photo
Kaiiii, Rukky never ceases to pull one on me. I mean classy isn`t exactly the accurate word to describe my homegurl Rukky but she surpassed herself on this one.
There seems to be a calculated attempt by some of these razz chics to keep themselves constantly in the news. I probably would do the same to divert attention if my movies stink to high heaven.
Anyway, I can honestly tell you guys for free that even “women of the night” that hang around the Streets of VI and Ikeja will shy away from displaying their market in this manner.
photo
Omotola aka Omosexy
Wowwww, I didn`t realise this big bird outfit comes in black/grey as well.
This is a clear indication that Omotola has the intention of making this trendy but I believe she is fighting a lost battle.
Can someone please tell us who styles this lady? I promise to post her stylist’s details so that her fans will know where to channel their hate mails instead of sending to me because all I`m doing is analysing images.
I didn`t put her in any of her hideous outfits.
This is one lady who could have been fashionably outstanding only if she could bother to wear the right outfit. What is that synthetic leather strap on her back for?
I wouldn`t be surprised to see a few animal rights activists behind her with placards rallying against the amount of feathers Omotola has on and chanting “we want our feathers back now” lol.
Omotola might as well trademark the big birdyyyy look nah make everyone comot hand as she has officially made it hers now.
photo
Genevieve Nnaji
A reader called me out for not making any comment on Genevieve`s weight gain but I was totally oblivious to it.
However, with this afo (belly) wey dey shoot out here, I hereby raise my two hands up; yup, I goofed on that one.
Weight gain? This is somewhere Genevieve doesn`t want to go because she is petite and the moment she loses her figure, we will be left with an image of a tele-tubby.
Nne, Uche gi dikwa ya o (Make ur head correct o). The design and fit seems classy but that belly has rubbished everything.

Screen Shot 2013-11-12 at 1.39.40 PM Here is another typical case of how Nigerian like taking laws into their own hands. it is almost a daily occurrence a very few make it to the media.
But Nigerian are not totally to be blamed as their lack of trust in the Government expresses its self in this incident.
Not withstanding, Nigerians must be enlightened on the right procedure of bringing an alleged criminal to book instead of taking laws into their hands. Nigerians must be conscious of the negative effect of jungle justice on the image of this country.
Police in Eldoret early this morning rescued two female MOi university students from an angry mob after they had str1pped them for allegedly drugging a resident and were plotting to steal from his house. The drama that ensued brought business in that part of Langas to a standstill as the n*ked women were paraded in public. The two were later taken to the Langas police station.

Married Actress Caught With Man Inside Hotel Room In Lagos
This is a total shame!!! Few months after a Nollywood actor's wife was caught in a raunchy BBM exchange scandal with a man believed to be a South-South governor, another married actress has been caught red handed in a more shameful act in Lagos.
A lady who know her very well spotted her with a businessman inside the bar of a local hotel and became a bit suspicious as the man was not her husband. The lady paid one of the guys in the local hotel to plant a camera in the room they booked.
We hear that the girl, who is from Kogi State, has been blackmailing the actress and collecting money from she and her secret lover. The lady has a complete video of

NewsRescue- Below is a statement by the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), regarding the designation of Boko Haram as a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the U.S. State Department.
“Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement on reports that the State Department will formally designate the Nigeria-based terrorist organization, Boko Haram, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization:
“Boko Haram – which translates into ‘education is prohibited’ – is another example of how the threat from al-Qaeda is spreading. For years, the ‘Nigerian Taliban’ has been working to impose its strict ways in the country’s Muslim north. Once believed to be strictly local, its fighters are increasingly linking up with other al-Qaeda linked groups in the region. The United States has a security interest in seeing a stable Nigeria. Designation as a Foreign Terrorist Organization will allow U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies the necessary authority to freeze Boko Haram’s assets and to stop entities providing support to the organization.”

REVEALED: How President Jonathan Is A Part Of Oduah’s N255 Million Car Scandal

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has lambasted President Goodluck Jonathan over his handling of the N255 million car purchase scandal involving the minister of aviation, Stella Oduah.
The party said Mr Jonathan may become an accessory to corruption if he continues to shield the minister. The party’s spokesperson, Lai Mohammed, said the APC reached that conclusion after reviewing the evidence that have come out on the scandal and the actions so far taken by the president.
The party said the president’s decision to allow Mrs Oduah travel with him to Israel, while she faced investigations for ordering the purchase of two armoured cars at an inflated cost, was the clearest indication Mr Jonathan was never serious about fighting corruption.
The purchase was made by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, at the directive of Mrs Oduah, a House of Representatives investigation, confirmed Thursday. The purchase neither listed in the budget nor did it follow due process.

Mrs Oduah travelled with the president to Israel on pilgrimage last week, despite the House probe, and another investigation by a panel named by the president himself.
The presidential panel was “diversionary”, and Mr Jonathan’s plan hope is for a more severe event to overshadow the Oduah scandal, APC said, vowing not to allow the matter be swept under the carpet.
”No one believes the dummy that is being sold to the public, that the minister was denied access to the President in Israel,” the APC said in a statement Sunday.

“The egregious act of putting the minister on his entourage, at a time she is at the centre of a terrible scandal, calls to question the president’s sense of propriety and his commitment to the war against corruption.”
”This indecorous action of making a minister who is under investigation for monumental corruption and abuse of office one of the faces of Nigeria in a foreign land is an embarrassment to the country and its people, and a further dent on the poor image of the Jonathan Administration.”
The party “whole-heartedly” condemned Mr Jonathan’s handling of the scandal, and the particular decision to allow the minister on his entourage to Israel.
“We now understand why corruption has grown wings under the Jonathan Presidency, and why the Administration may well go down as the most corrupt in the country’s history,” APC said in a the statement signed by spokesperson, Lai Mohammed.
Mr Jonathan queried the embattled minister and she has since responded to the query, claiming to have adhered to law in the conducting the transaction.
The APC said the case was “straightforward” and should have summarily dealt with by the president.
“Instead, he has engaged himself in a rigmarole by setting up a diversionary administrative panel in what is now looking like an orchestrated ploy to buy time, hoping this issue will die down and the Minister will escape being sanctioned,” the party said.
”Unfortunately for Mr. President, Oduahgate is not just another scandal, but a referendum on his Administration’s fight against corruption, and on the legacy he intends to leave in this critical area.”
The opposition party also accused the Mr Jonathan of thumbing his nose at Nigerians, who expressed outrage at the action of the Minister, by approving for her to travel to Israel as part of his entourage.
APC said through his body language, the president was sending a signal to his ministers that it was right to be corrupt, wondering whether he was aware of the joke making the rounds that there were currently five Super Ministers in his cabinet whom he could neither sanction nor remove, irrespective of their actions, because they were the ones ferreting funds into his war chest for 2015.
“In other words, any of his ministers whom he perceives as key to his re-election can even loot Aso Rock and get away with it,” the party stressed.
”We do not know whether this is true or not, but we do know there is no smoke without fire, and that the seeming attempt to sweep Oduahgate under the carpet lends some credence to the joke.”
APC noted that because of the president’s waffling in dealing with what is a straightforward case of corruption, misguided people had now resorted to crowd hiring to protest against the growing calls for the minister to be sanctioned over the scandal – a very sad case since those being hired for such disgusting protests were the real victims of the mindless corruption that has permeated the land.
”These sponsored protests are just the beginning. Next, they will either engineer or hope that a spectacular violent attack, a la Boko Haram, will occur to take attention away from the scandal. They may also charge some out-of-luck folks to court over the scandal and then say they cannot act on the issue anymore because it is subjudice,” it said.
APC said, however, that the party as well as other concerned groups and citizens were closely following the developments on Oduahgate, and would not allow it to be swept under the carpet, “in the interest of the millions of Nigerians who have been consigned into the lowest rung of existence by a rapacious administration.”

3. Don't disrespect her.
4. Don't make her feel unloved.
5. Don't rape her.
6. Don't cheat on her.
7. Don't ignore her love languages.
***
Give her kindness, she'll give you love.

Give her your heart, she'll give you her life.
Give her a house, she'll give you a home.
Give her an idea, she will give you a plan.

Love her, and she'll submit herself! Sin against her and she will make your life miserable…

7 Types of Guys That Wont Commit

Ladies watch-out most women look for the type of men that won’t find it a herculean task to stay committed, however it seems to be getting harder these days to bag men like that. And what’s more is that it seems we won’t stop meeting these men. 7 Types of Guys That Wont Commit see more after the cut.

1. The one who is in love with himself: if he talks about himself and his lifetime goals alone, dedicates time to work on his image and build himself superficially then he’s not going to have time to commit to you. Reason being that he can’t be committed to two people, he’s already committed to himself.
2. Financially unstable: nobody is saying just look out for the rich guy but if this guy isn’t exactly sure where he wants his career to be in five years or how to get a good job(if he doesn’t have one) then there’s no point trying to decide if he’ll commit.
3. He’s broke: he might not be like the guy listed above, he’s hardworking, dedicated and resilient but he isn’t where he wants to be yet. This won’t make him commit to you. Men love to take care of their women, they don’t want to sit back every time and watch you pick the bills and buy the stuff every time. So if he’s broke and he feels like he’s not where he should be yet, he won’t be ready to commit.
4. Childish man: men never truly grow up. Women do more of growing up, argue it all you want but it is the truth. However some men are just ridiculously childish. They act like toddlers when they should be grown up. They only grow older they don’t grow up. If he’s like this, then forget getting committed with him
5. Always horny: if he’s always wanting to get down and always talking about your body half of the time and if he uses the remaining half to discuss the next s*x position y’all should try out, hey hey hey, watch it babes. Watch it.
6. A Workaholic: a man who’s hundred percent dedicated to his job and sees no reason to settle down yet can’t commit to you. Forget the fact that he should be fulfilled and be looking to finding a Mrs If he acts committed now, he’s going to get tired and stop being committed later.
7. A Mummy Boy: A man who takes permission from is mother, is not to be called a man but a boy. been a man means you are up for responsible and not pampering.
Here are a few ways to spot men like this, so you can keep them very far away and never get involved with them. If you are looking for a committed relationship that is.

Photo of woman giving birth shocks country

Photo of woman giving birth shocks country
AP Irma Lopez gives birth on a lawn.
An indigenous woman squats in pain after giving birth, her newborn still bound by the umbilical cord and lying on the ground. It's a photograph that horrified Mexicans because of where it took place: the lawn outside a medical clinic where the woman had been denied help, and it struck a nerve in a country where inequity is still pervasive.
The government of the southern state of Oaxaca announced Wednesday that it has suspended the health center's director, Dr. Adrian Cruz, while officials conduct state and federal investigations into the Oct. 2 incident.
The mother, Irma Lopez, 29, told The Associated Press that she and her husband were turned away from the health center by a nurse who said she was only eight months pregnant and "still not ready" to deliver.
The nurse told her to go outside and walk, and said a doctor could check her in the morning, Lopez said. But an hour and a half later, her water broke, and Lopez gave birth to a son, her third child, while grabbing the wall of a house next to the clinic.
"I didn't want to deliver like this. It was so ugly and with so much pain," she said, adding she was alone for the birth because her husband was trying to persuade the nurse to call for help.
A witness took the photo and gave it to a news reporter. It ran in several national newspapers, including the full front page of a tabloid, and was widely circulated on the Internet.

The case illustrated the shortcomings of maternal care in Mexico, where hundreds of women still die during or right after pregnancy. It also pointed to the persistent discrimination against Mexico's indigenous people.
"The photo is giving visibility to a wider structural problem that occurs within indigenous communities: Women are not receiving proper care. They are not being offered quality health services, not even a humane treatment," said Mayra Morales, Oaxaca's representative for the national Network for Sexual and Reproductive Rights.
The federal Health Department said this week that it has sent staff to investigate what happened at the Rural Health Center of the village of San Felipe Jalapa de Diaz. The National Human Rights Commission also began an investigation after seeing news reports.
Lopez, who is of Mazatec ethnicity, said she and her husband walked an hour to the clinic from the family's one-bedroom hut in the mountains of northern Oaxaca. It would have taken them longer to get to the nearest highway to catch a ride to a hospital. She said that from the births of her two previous children, she knew she didn't have time for that.
Nearly one in five women in the state of Oaxaca gave birth in a place that is not a hospital or a clinic in 2011, according to Mexico's census. Health officials have urged women to go to clinics to deliver their babies, but many women say the operating hours of the rural centers are limited and staffs small. A receptionist at the Rural Health Center told the AP that the doctor in charge was not available to comment about the case.

Although some have praised Mexico for improving its maternal health care, the mortality rate still stands at about 50 deaths per 100,000 births, according to the World Health Organization, similar to Libya, Barbados and Kazakhstan. The U.S. rate is 16 per 100,000.
Oaxaca is one of Mexico's poorest, most rural states and many women have died of hemorrhaging or preeclampsia, a condition causing high blood pressure and possible kidney or liver failure. The Mexican states with the highest indigenous population have the highest rates of maternal deaths, by a wide margin.
Lopez was taken in by the clinic after giving birth and discharged the same day with prescriptions for medications and products that cost her about $30, she said. Health officials say she and her baby were in good health.
She said that poverty-stricken villagers are used to being forgotten by Mexico's health care system and left to fend off for themselves.
"I am naming him Salvador," said Lopez, a name that means "Savior" in English. "He really saved himself."

Na Wah! Man Locks Up Girlfriend's Pants With Padlock To Prevent Her From Cheating

A 40 years old man was arrested for locking up his girlfriend's pants using a chastity belt for years just so that she won't cheat on him!

According to CNN, the man's abused, unidentified 25-year-old Mexican girlfriend recently had to tell cops about the abuse after she was left unable to go to the bathroom for several hours because she couldn’t unlatch the padlock on her jeans.

The agonizing pain prompted the woman — who lives in Zacatlame, a poverty-stricken community in the Mexican Gulf state of Veracruz — to go to the police.

She said she was too afraid of her 40-year-old boyfriend to grab a pair of scissors and cut the belt loop to which the lock was attached.

Wicked Tenant Abdutcs Landlord's Daughter, Impregnates Her

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 37-year-old man, Ajibola Idowu, for kidnapping the daughter of his landlord and kept her captive for three years. He was also said to have forcefully impregnated the victim, Modupe Brown, during her captivity.

After Ajibola impregnated Modupe and she gave birth, he refused to allow her take the child for immunisation so that people will not see her hence she won't escape from him.

As a result, the child was said to have contracted polio disease and subsequently became crippled.

Lagos Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, told Punch that Ajibola was arrested along with his mother, Ebun, who allegedly conspired with him to commit the act.

He said, “Brown, a 400L student of Business Administration at the Lagos State University, was kidnapped by Ajibola who kept her in captivity with his family for three years between 2010 and 2013.

“On September 19, 2013, policemen from Area E Command, went to the Sagamu area of Ogun State to rescue the victim and also arrested the mother of the abductor, who watched over the victim. Ajibola was later arrested in the Idumota area of Lagos Island.

“During the three years, Ajibola kept Brown in three locations -Oshogbo, Osun State, where she spent six months; Bariga, Lagos, where she spent six months; and Sagamu, Ogun State, where she spent about two years.

“Ajibola forcefully impregnated Brown while in captivity. She delivered a baby girl, who later became deformed as a result of Ajibola’s refusal to have the baby immunised against the Polio virus.”

While speaking with Punch, Brown described her ordeal in the hands of her abductor as a journey through the valley of the shadow of death. She said she was abducted at her father’s house in the Ebute Meta area of Lagos State.

She said, “I can’t even remember how he kidnapped me. All I know is that he held me captive for three years. It’s as if I was under a spell. Even when I was going to give birth, he did not allow me to go to a hospital. The baby was delivered at home and he was the one giving me medication.

“Even one day, when state officials came to the area to immunise children, he said he would not allow the child to be immunised, saying the drugs had been poisoned. Once, when I tried to leave, he threatened to kill me.”

During her time in captivity, Brown's parents, who are retired civil servants, searched hospitals, mortuaries, police stations and churches for her all to no avail.

The victim’s father, Idowu Brown, said he had no clue that Ajibola was the abductor. He said, “I never knew it was Ajibola that kidnapped my daughter. He was my tenant for six years and greeted me every day. We even used to share jokes. He was aware that I had been looking for my daughter for three years but he never said anything.

“When we could not find her, I reported the matter at FESTAC Police Division. It was in September this year that we heard from our daughter for the first time. She told us that she was in Sagamu and my wife went there. There we met Ajibola’s mother. That was how we found out that he (tenant) was the one behind the whole thing.”

The suspects however denied abducting the landlord’s daughter. Ajibola’s mother claimed Brown and her son were lovers, who decided to elope, maintaining that the case was not an abduction.

In his defence, Ajibola, who is into satellite dish installation, said the plan to elope was hatched by Brown who paid N200, 000 into his bank account. The money was said to have been meant for her school project.

He said he could not understand why she would make such allegations against him. “I did not kidnap her; we were lovers and decided to elope. Even when she was at my house, she used to make calls to her relatives telling them that she was alright,” he claimed.

JTF, DSS Discover High Calibre Bomb Factory in Kano

Some recovered weapons and explosives from Boko Haram suspects
The Joint Security Task Force (JTF) said that it discovered a high calibre bomb factory at Gunduwawa village in Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.

The Commander, 3 Brigade of the Nigeria Army, Kano, Brig.-Gen. Iliyasu Abba, made the disclosure when he briefed newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.

Abba said the discovery was made on Tuesday around 2 a.m., during an operation by a combined team of the JTF troops and the Department of State Services (DSS) operatives.

``At about 2 am on October 8, a combined team of the JTF troops and Department of State Services raided two Boko Haram terrorists’ hideouts at Gunduwawa village in Gezawa Local Government Area.

``The raid, which was conducted following a lead on intelligence reports, made no arrests as the terrorists fled the village on the approach of the JTF troops and DSS personnel,’’ he said.

He, however, said one person who was believed to be the son of the owner of the house was killed during the operation.

According to him, the deceased is said to have rented the house to the fleeing terrorists.

He said the team was also able to recover weapons, working tools and materials used for making improvised explosive devices (EIDs).

He added that they recovered one assault rifle, two AK58 rifle magazines with 193 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, and one AK 47 rifle magazine with 107 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition and bows and arrows.
Others are: three primed cylinders of IEDs, one primed explosive suicide back pack, 18 empty IED cylinders, 24 detonators, and small bag of fertiliser and IED timers.

The rest are: cortex wires and three remote control devices, five Motorola hand held radios, four communicators, six alarm clocks, two cartons of 9-volt batteries, a scale, one external hard drive and one heavy duty charger/battery.

``These weapons, ammunitions and other dangerous materials were meant to wreak havoc on Kano during the Eid-el-Kabir and other festivities before the end of the year.’’

He urged members of the public to continue to cooperate with the JTF operatives in its effort to curb the activities of terrorists in the state.

Stampede As Two Teenage Students Launch Home-Made Rocket In Imo State

Rocket
Two students of the Federal Government College, Okigwe, Imo State have caused a stir in Umuchime Ubahu community in Okigwe LGA, with the launch of a rocket they built from local materials.
The rocket, which was supposed to travel five kilometres, went further than programmed and landed in a residential area, causing a stampede. The residents of the house where the rocket landed, alerted the police, thinking it was a bomb.
Commissioner of Police Muhammad Musa Katsina, however, dispelled fears of terrorism, saying the “amateur scientists”, who launched the home-made rocket, did not intend any harm.
The police boss, who briefed reporters yesterday, said there was a bomb scare in the community when the two science students launched their rocket. He said police investigation showed that there was no criminal intent, adding that it was a case of innovation and adventure.
“There was no terrorism motive in the act. We enjoin people to go about their activities without fear”, Katsina said.
He went on:
The manufacturers of this rocket are not terrorists; they are rather talented science pupils keen on developing their scientific skills. They should be encouraged. The rocket has been deactivated and is safe. The components as discovered by the Police Bomb Disposal Unit do not contain any radioactive or toxic element.
Because the boys intended no harm, no punitive measures will be taken. I will rather recommend that they be encouraged so that they can achieve greater things.
The teenage scientists asked for Federal Government’s sponsorship to enable them improve on their skills. They said they built the rocket as part of a school exercise, which earned them a second position in a competition.
They said they were inspired to launch the rocket when they heard of the National Space Development Agency’s plan to launch a climate-monitoring satellite into space next year.
